Fact Sheet:
On July 13, 2021, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released its 2022 Physician Fee Schedule and Quality Payment Program proposed rule. Included are a number of proposals aimed at access to and reimbursement of telehealth services and increasing health equity, as well as policies that would make the Quality Payment Program better for clinicians. Regarding the College's ongoing work to advocate for and support initiatives to close the equity gap, ACP has commended CMS on these efforts and continues to advocate that data collection is designed in a way that would not place undue burden on clinicians or their practices. ACP is additionally reviewing CMS's proposal on MIPS Value Pathways to see how closely it aligns with our concepts to ensure our members will see some relief from the burdens of the current MIPS program structure. The Regulatory Affairs team at ACP will post a summary of the proposed rule on our website, as well as submit public comment to CMS on the proposals and accompanying recommendations.
If you would like to work with your chapter to advocate for regulatory relief, please visit ACP's Chapter Advocacy Toolkit for more resources and calls to action.
