Master Teacher Award (Inaugural award since 2009)
Master Teacher of the Year Award - This award is bestowed upon an Internal Medicine faculty member with at least 7 (seven) years’ experience as a staff Internist on active duty, and with at least 3 (three) years’ experience as an Internal Medicine faculty member in conjunction with an Internal Medicine Residency training program. This award recognizes sustained outstanding achievement including, but not limited to the following attributes: teaching prowess and academic acumen, displaying exemplary characteristics of care and concern for individual patients, professionalism, and serving as a role model and mentor. Nominees are to be submitted by the Program Director or Department Chairman/Department Head. Only one nominee is allowed per year per Internal Medicine Residency training site. The Awards Committee will then select only 1 (one) awardee per year from these nominations. Prior awardees are not eligible.

Sparks Award
Sparks Award for Excellence in Internal Medicine - This award is bestowed upon a staff Internist at a non-Internal Medicine teaching hospital or other Navy Military Treatment Facility (MTF) in recognition of outstanding achievement including, but not limited to the following attributes: teaching prowess and academic acumen, displaying exemplary characteristics of care and concern for individual patients, professionalism, and serving as a role model and mentor. Nominees will be submitted by the Department Head or his/her designee. The Awards Committee will then select only one (or more if eligible) awardee per year from these nominations. Prior awardees are not eligible.

VADM Nathan Young Leader Award (inaugural award since 2014)
VADM Nathan Young Leader in Internal Medicine Award – This award is bestowed on a Lieutenant or Lieutenant Commander, board certified internist who has displayed significant leadership helping Navy internal medicine execute the mission through innovation, perseverance, creativity, and compassion, this person will have guided or supported their command through challenging times and/or to dramatic success. Nominations can be submitted by the Department Head or his/her designee. The Awards Committee will then select only 1 (one) awardee per year from these nominations. The recommended number of awardees per year for this award is one per year. Prior awardees are not eligible.

Captain Patricia V. Pepper Internal Medicine Senior Leadership Award (inaugurated 2019)
Awarded annually to an outstanding female internist at the rank of Commander (O-5) or above who has proven herself to be an exceptional leader across Navy internal medicine; a mentor and educator for residents, medical students, and junior attending physicians; and, above all, a compassionate and dedicated advocate for her patients. This physician has carried on the tradition of Captain Patricia V. Pepper in her willingness to lead in difficult circumstances, mentor and teach hundreds of residents and junior faculty, and care for thousands of patients with complicated medical needs over an impressive Navy career.
