ACP has submitted statements to Congress on each of the issues, including mental health, substance use, paid family leave and health equity.


In Case You Missed It

A new set of recommendations released by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) could help to improve primary care medicine for patients and physicians. analyzes the challenges facing primary care and lays out an implementation plan for strengthening primary care medicine. ACP was among the sponsors who commissioned the report.

Many of the recommendations that were included are in agreement with recommendations that ACP made in their Vision for the U.S. Health Care System, published in early 2020. Similar recommendations are also reflected in ACP's policy on Aligning GME Policy with the Nation's Health Care Workforce Needs.

To better explain the recommendations, and their potential impact on physicians ACP participated in a Joint Briefing: NASEM Implementing High Quality Primary Care with other physician societies. Rebecca A. Andrews, MS, MD, FACP and Chair of ACP's Board of Governors, gave remarks and answered questions during the event. Watch the recording on ACP's Facebook .

Annals of Internal Medicine Deputy Editor Deborah Cotton, MD, MPH will moderate the forum with a panel of experts discussing current information on treating patients with persistent symptoms following COVID-19.
