On April 22, 2019, CMS its Primary Cares Initiative, which includes two new APMs intended to transform primary care. For more information on the new models and how to apply, click on the respective ACP fact sheets below. Please note that as more information is made available, ACP will update these fact sheets and develop other educational resources. Notices of intent to apply (NOIA) to start the Professional and/or Global Options in Jan. 2020 are due Aug. 2. The NOIA for the PCF models will become available in the coming weeks.


Internists applaud passage of Dream and Promise Act of 2019, support residents and medical students protected under DACA

ACP was encouraged by the passage of H.R. 6, the Dream and Promise Act of 2019, in the U.S. House of Representatives, which would provide a pathway to U.S. citizenship for undocumented children who came to the United States due to the action of their parents, also known as 鈥淒reamers.鈥 The permanent legal status that this legislation could grant to Dreamers would allow these individuals to continue to contribute fully in the country they know to be their home.


ACP joined TIME鈥橲 UP Healthcare, a network of health care leaders organizing across industries to create safe, fair, and dignified workplaces for women. In a recent published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, ACP leaders wrote how issues of sexual and gender harassment and gender inequity are prevalent in the health care industry. Additionally, ACP's 2018 position paper 鈥 addressed gender disparities in compensation and leadership positions and offers potential solutions, such as increasing the number of women in practice, faculty, and leadership positions across all health care settings.
