ACP Issues Statements Supporting Diversity among Physicians and Decrying Harassment of Public Health Officials

In reaction to recent items in the news, ACP has issued statements in support of efforts to ensure diversity in the physician workforce and opposing harassment of public health officials. The statement on diversity, equity and inclusion was in reaction to a, since withdrawn, article in the Journal of the American Heart Association that recommended that racial and ethnic preferences for undergraduate and medical school admissions be rolled back. The statement opposing harassment of public health officials was issued in reaction to recent news reports that public health officials and experts across the country are being subject to harassment due to their recommendations on what should be done to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
